The museum | 13 May 2008
I am soooo excited by the ABBA museum. At first I had my doubts, but the more I know about it, the better it gets. It would be very hard for ABBA fans to stay away from the museum. Located in the centre of Stockholm it would be an an ideal place for a summer visit. And of course it's right across Benny's recording studio, so while we're in the museum we can all wave to the grey old man. Does that sound sarcastic? That is not my intention; there's always a "first" for everything, so why not something positive for a change? My usual attitude towards any new idea coming out of Sweden is quite sceptical. Not strange regarding the history of ideas regarding ABBA's legacy. Do I need to mention the Polar Music Studios? This time however Universal is not the sole gate keeper and the two people behind the museum really seem to know what they're doing. If you look at their website, you will find that there's an awful lot to look forward to. When the possibility was offered to buy tickets for the opening week I simply could not resist. Together with ABBA buddy Rik I'll travel to Sweden in June 2009 to be amongst the first fans to go into the museum. Accidentally we bought two sets of tickets, so you'll see us on June 4 and June 6 as true ABBA zombies in the museum. It will be my very first trip to Stockholm so it will be packed with a whole lot of ABBA. We'll probably be trying to go to as many ABBA related places as possible, like Polar Music studios, Mono Music, Julius Kronbergs Atelje, etc. We might even get tempted to stalk Agnetha for a while… Because no matter how much I want to see Stockholm and the museum, of course I also have high hopes of seeing a glimpse of the famous middle aged blonde ABBA singer. I mean, this would be the prefect opportunity to see two, three or maybe even four ABBA members. I don't care if they all show up. If only Agnetha would be there, then after thirty odd years of ABBA fandom, I would have seen all ABBA members in the flesh. So I will also be standing in front of the museum for the opening night on June 3 2009. My |
